(thats what i was told). i know then they put the vq35 in older maximas they use the pathfinder throttle body and modify it slightly to work, so i dont know if the same process applies there. i was leaning towards the vq swap first, but ive decied to pursue the ls1 now. i found this site, http://www.daftinnovations.com/ that specialize in this stuff and their prices are about the same as hinsons. they have some videos on youtube of them with their ls1 240sx.
The people you have talked to may not have all the info regarding the VQ swap as there is for sure one full swap-n-drop kit for the VQ. All you need to do is find someone who can delete the ignition lock IRRC from the stock VQ ECU or just run a pre-tuned AEM EMS from VQswap.com.

Theres a couple others that are low-key right now, but the VQ swap is just as easy as the LSx swap. Both swaps cost nearly the same, just your preference.

i see what your saying, that must be why vqswap pushes the aem ems so much. can you run that and still have a stock vq35? i thought that was more for a tuned motor than just a stock one. but then again im still pretty new to this stuff

The AEM EMS can be used for stock applications as well, its actually better to go this way if you eventually plan to crank out more power. But usually, with the EMS, you can keep the VQ stock, but "tune" it to be more efficient or to max out the potential of a stock block.

ok, i understand that. since the 350z has two different horsepowered motors, are they just tuned differently or do they have different parts? is it like the ls1 in a z28 vs ss, or more like ls1 vs ls2?

They have different parts. The never VQ is not a VQ35DE its a VQ35HR, the HR standing for high rev. And there was a guy a while back who swapped the VQ35DE into an S13 and used the Z33 Body Control Module so everything worked like stock with the VQ. It was a wiring nightmare but when he was finished he claimed it was much better and safer than the AEM.
