5k for my 240...whats best?

i am selling my maxima so i can buy a 91-93 240...im probably gunna get around 6000 for my car and i wanna spend about 1500 on the 240 so that would leave me with around 4-4500 to spend on whatever motor work and possibly a paintjob for the car. if im on such a tight budget and want to go as fast as i can...would it be smarter to turbo the ka motor with a nice turbo kit or better off doing the whole sr swap??? some people are all for the sr swap and others are convincing me to stay ka. what do u guys think?

I would decide whether I wanted to go looks, or fast first. Then concentrate my money on either or, rather than budgeting myself on both. No point in doing things if you're going to do it half assed. Whether or not you should go ka, or sr I'm not sure, cause I'm new to nissans. BUt just something I learned putting together my old cars.

For the SR/KA question, I think youd have to know the condition of the stock motor first. Turbo'd KA is quite powerful, but if the engine has 160,000 miles on it, or if youd have to get a new engine anyway, I would say go with SR.
Also, since the SR is factory turbo'd, it can handle much higher compression than the KA. On the other hand, theres no replacement for displacement....

Also, speed is nothing if you cant stop or corner fast as well. you might want to invest some money in the suspension and braking systems while your on your shopping spree.

Cant wait to see it!

I say do some footwork on your car. Sure you can go fast in a straightline, but what about the corners. Don't wanna go straight into a curb. Lol

Spend your money on go parts first looks later. No one likes cars that look fast but are slow. However cars that look slow but are fast can be a real hoot.

Anyway. As someone above said if your KA is low milage and good unabused condition you could turbo it. If it isn't the low mileage/good condition I would say go for a swap.

However since your looking at buying a 1500 dollar car you are gonna need to spend a decent amount of money just to get the car up to par (unless you get a hell of a deal on a mint condition car).

I suggest spending the money on small things, nothing major(suspension and etc.). You would want to save up a little more money in order to do a good swap or Turbo kit.

i dont care about looks yet...come september ill have money to throw around for little things here and there. until then all i wanna concentrate on is being able to put those cocky mustang drivers in there place. the maxima just isnt cutting it anymore lol. i love driving a turboed car so ive got to have it. im just on a limited budget and it sucks because i cant do anything until my car sells. but thanks for the ideas. once i sell my car and find the 240 i want check out the miles and see whether im gunna stick with the ka or not. and im definately doing suspension as well before anything else. stiff suspension is the best investment ive made on my maxima the car's handling is amazing. if you guys got any good sites i can start pricing turbo kits for the ka or sr swaps let me know i been reading pages and pages of this stuff all day every day. thanks guys
