Question About the cops

Is there anybody with the SR and got caught by the cops. What will happen if they know the engine swap was done? I am in Cali and should I worry about this?

first of all...you can't pass smog with sr....that means you can't register your vehicle to drive out on the street...cops USUALLY don't give a *** whether if you have sr, rb, ca...etc...but they will...if your car is not register...but again...i've seen lotta 240s with swaps that are register...how do they do it?...i don't know...some tells me you CAN pass the smog, some says you CAN'T...only way to find out...try for yourself...if you want more info try searching...welcome to the forum

Find yourself a crooked smogger and pay him/her extra...you will pass, then you can register your car.

WARNING! Cops(Espically in the CA)Are cracking down on engine swapping...they will most likely cite you for something minimal and then make you go to the refree(A licensed no BS Smogger)and make you get a real smog. Good luck

I don't worry about the smog check. If i have everything with me, like the smog check and register my car, does it mean everything will be fine? How you guys think about it. I had a SR20DE which is in the NX2000. And I am thinking about change to SR20DET in 240 cause I want a RWD car.

Like I said...just worry about the cops. If they catch you and know whats up...you will get into trouble(Not highly likely...but there is stil a risk)

I have a crooked smogger lined up to smog me for a few extra $`s, no prblem though. I am going to keep my engine lookign completely stock, except for open element air filter, only black and silver is going to be under my hood.

Research the regulations-government people are @$$es, they don't know so the answer will most likely be "no"-unless you show them some paper. The SR20DE came in cars in the US so I think the DET being illegal wouldn't stand. Compared to the KA the SR is a more efficient smaller displacement engine anyway and should be welcomed. My SOHC KA was a terrible engine as far as the power that wasn't there and fuel consuption that was.
