Post CA / SR Wiring - What you need to know!

From my research - This will describe how to wire in your CA18DET or SR20DET engine harness for your swap. (YES, this is identical for both CA & SR!)

There are two plugs on the end of the KA engine harness and three plugs on the CA/SR harness that run up behind the stock battery location. Although the plugs do initially snap together, the wires do not line up and you have to cut the plugs off and connect the wires using the table below.

If you have your KA wire harness, cut the two main plugs off the KA harness and splice them onto the CA/SR harness. If you don't have the KA harness, cut off the mating terminals and run the wires straight through - Be sure to match up correctly!

The MAFS and power steering sensor wires need to make it over to the front driver's side of the engine compartment. Use the MAFS and PS wires and terminals from the KA harness to extend these wires.

The AC compressor wire from the KA engine bay harness should be used - NOT the CA/SR harness AC wire (even though it fits).

The lower harness (starter, tranny and alternator, etc) that plugs to the fuse box are all the same and plug right in.

There are several unused and leftover harness plugs, anything not mentioned here does not need to be connected!

ECU & Dash wiring

The colors on the wires that run from the ECU up into the dash matched up perfectly on both the SR ECU harness and the KA dash harness. It does not mate up on CA ECU harness!

(I am not 100% sure, but I would suspect the wires are the same so you can splice in the terminal from the KA to the CA to mate with the dash terminal.)

The rest of the wires are for the CONSULT diagnostic device. It is not necessary to connect any other wires than those listed above to get the SR to run properly.

Connect the remaining wires if you plan to use the onboard diagnostic CONSULT connector.

KA24E/DE Lower Harness on CA18DET (S13)

All plugs from the KA24E/DE will plug in normally - none of them need to be extended, unless you want to use 4th/5th gear sensors.

You may have to rewire the reverse sensor plug, or swap the reverse sensor from your KA tranny to the CA tranny.

Keep in mind, if you keep the CA speed sensor your speedo will read in km. Using the USDM Sensor will fit right in to read in mph.

For the starter, the KA and CA have different positive terminals. Here you should cut the KA plug off and splice in the CA plug into its place.

The knock sensor can be solder into the plug if you have it. If you don't, you can solder it right to the sensor, but you must splice the wire into pin 23 on your ECU.

Yeah, yeah, yeah you caught me... but anyone else reading this post, check out http://heavythrottle.com they have a pretty good write-up section on SR20's.

Oh btw you dont have to cut the plugs off. Just make a tool to open the plugs and re-pin. Looks way cleaner.

Sorry for the confusion.

So everyone else knows, the picture shows the male and female ends of the terminals from the KA.
