CA18DET Information request

I see all this information about doing a SR20DET or RB26DETT swap nearly everywhere i look, CA18DET however, you gotta dig. So i figure I'll start a thread for anyone intresting in this little underdog. If you know anything about the engine, from specs, parts and such that can be used, recommended tuning, etc, please post it. I personally would love to do a RB25DET swap, really if i had the cash, but the CA18DET strikes me for some reason. Not too underpowered..and 9000 RPM limit possible sounds awesome as ****. Speaking of sound, would love to get a sound clip of a CA18DET reving to 9 grand, just for ****s and giggles. I'm also looking for a reliable place/person where I could get one decently cheap. Post away please ^_^

Still browsing for some CA18DET info
Found a few sites of intrest

ECU info

Turbo options for the CA18DET (Includes SRs as well)

Repair manual for CA18DET (and SR20DET, cant forget them too)

Talks about CA18DET auto->Manual conversion as well as removal and install of a CA18DET a bit.

Modding CA18DET, quite intresting

Classic SR vs CA article, however, seems less biased, well informed as well

Common Problems with CA18DET motors (and SR20DET)

More SR vs CA, again intresting

CA18DET intrests me a lot, i dunno why. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a SR vs CA post, this is focusing more on the CA18DET, collecting information. That's all ^^.

More to come, getting those manuals and doing some reading ^_^

Peace

I dont know why people like the CA. its just an older, higher revving, less torquey engine. and it has less aftermarket.

why am I posting? because Im bored, thats why.

Why do people like the old chevy motors and such, they're heavy, big, can be annoying to work on, etc? Some people sware by Carbs, why others FI.

When it boils down to it

It's personal taste

What's old, doesn't mean its bad

I look at every option possible

CA looks like a hidden gem, I'm trying to get as much information as possible before I consider a swap.

I have decided to go with the CA18DET for many reasons

1. it can rev to 9000 with a few easy mods
2. it is unique (everyone has a SR or RB)
3. PRICE (about 1500 CDN less than an SR)

However it all goes down to personal choice

CA has just as much aftermarket parts. I dont care what any graph or poll says, CA is the ****in same as a SR. I have seen with my own eyes CA's takin SR's. Hell, I have done it many times with my CA. Now with my SR I still got beat by one not that long ago.

On top of all this the CA sounds better and the parts are cheaper.

BTW- I dont know about that 9000 rpm limit. Mine sounded like it was gonna explode at 7000, I would never have brought it that high.
