new to the 240 and need some information

Ok, here's the deal. I own a 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S now, and to be honest, it is too slow. So my plan was to get a newer (maybe 1996) 240 and do an engine swap. I was told that the Skyline GT-R motor (the RB-26, I believe) can be swapped into the 240. Is this true, and what kind of power would I be looking at if I were to do that. I would have about $18000 to spend, and I looked around for used 240's and found most of them about $6000, so I would have around $12000 to spend on fixing it up.

Thanks for your help

There are drivability issues when doing such a swap as a rb26 into a s13/S14. the firewall must be cut and other things like that. I would take all that money and build one hell of a sr20det engine and get some nice suspension.

RB swaps are hella expensive. I don't think you have enough money for the RB26 engine, the RB25 tranny and oil pan, then there the custom parts and custom install. Way too much effort it's not worth it.

Waaay to much downtime. Hard to find a shop to do it right. Too much of a headache.

Make a monster SR and be happy.

What is the purpose of this car? Realistically. I know we all want rippers on the strip and fast cars in Autox but are you ready to give up creature comforts and deal with high amounts of maintenance and mass amounts of money spent?

Or

Would you like a car to cruise around in? Drive to work. Screw around on the street. Drive fast on the highway. Not have to work on it every weekend tuning. Not walk away shaking from all of the potholes you flew over and thru?

This will help most of us tailor our answers for you.

if you plan on drifting and still want the S15 engine id suggest getting an S14 tranny as the gear ratios are more suited to this. again very common in japan.

i would want to make a car that would be reliable to drive to and from school everyday, with not a lot of maintainance, but enough power to whip up on some domestic v-8's

get the s13, its cheaper to start out with, and the injection is better for high power motors...

big deal if it has less power stock...

Just turbocharge your KA if you really want to, or swap the SR. WOuld can easily make 400 whp and spank those domestic boys up and down the street, and if there is a turn you'll be ahead by a mile.

and hold on ... doesnt the rb26 motor cost about $25k-40... i could be wrong... but i know the engine is a sh*t load dude... do what many of us would, get a 240, and swap a s13, and add suspension and many other items... you would be better off... and plus ... i doubt rb26 engine parts are easy to come around

If you can weld it, it will fit. Those are some nice swaps.

Oh yeah parts are available for any engine. Name one that doesn't have an aftermarket. You just have to have money and do research on parts.
