Most likely this has been asked before, but i will ask anyways. If I was to get a SR20DE motor and get a turbo kit off a DET will it all be worth it? and what all would i need to change to make it worth it. I already know the compression is different, but is there anything else different?

No, it wouldn't be worth it. There really aren't many turbo kits for the FWD SR floating around. To get all the parts you need, it's easier to just buy an SR front clip - especially since you will need the ECU and probably haness. You will also probably need a suitable transmission - I don't know of the bluebird got the SR20DET and FWD - or if all the turbo models were AWD.

Anyway, it will end up costing you more money and MUCH more time to piece together an SR20DET than to buy a complete motor.

On the contrary, they are a lot of FWD SR turbo kits around, just go to any SE-R meet and 40% of the cars are turboed. YOu can also get a SR20DE engine for the S13, but that's just wasting time. Get the real deal Bad boy DET

From his post I though he was going to be looking for the OEM SR20DET parts - not aftermarket kits for the SR20DE.

Either way, my answer remains the same. The only way I'd consider an aftermarket turbo kit would be it if the car already had an SR running in it (Sentra/G20).

more opinions. not everyone looks into all the forums. so i put it in the 2 most likely spots.

but the main reason i was asking, was a friend of mine bought a turbo kit from a RWD s13 SR20DET motor, and he is planning on putting in a FWD SR20DE motor in his altima and put the RWD turbo kit on that motor. I wasn't too sure if it would work or not, but he wants to try. and i figured, if he ended up not making it work, i could get the turbo kit off him, and get the RWD SR20DE motor and swap mine with his kit. but once again, its a question, is it worth it. he already has a SE-R sentra tranny in his altima with the KA24DE motor.
