Dealer JDM Swap??

Say I had a friend who happened to own a Nissan dealership. IN THEORY could they order a brand new JDM sr20det and swap it into a 240 for me and have it registered in Cali making it legal and able to pass smog? I need to ask my friend who that might have a dealership if they can order JDM engines. It's probably not cost efficient though.. I wonder what dealer cost on a new sr20det is...

Why would you want nissan techs who specialize in USDM nissans to do a JDM engine swap? As for the legal question... i highly doubt it.

what's the purpose of having 'em brand new. You can get some sets that has as low as 10k miles.

as for the smog thing....uh..yea..you're gonna have to pay someone under the table like the rest of us.

if your going to try and get a brand new sr, your going to be spending an arm and leg to get it, and like Helghast said its still going to be illegal no matter what

Damn.. so much for that plan. His delership well if he had one it would do smog certification. So I guess I'll search for a low mile sr20 then.

it shouldn't be too hard to find a low mile sr, most usually have about 30,000 or so miles

U could always just buy a cheap one and rebuild it from the block up...probably about the same price as the whole dealer thing plus a lot better performance..

it doesnt matter who gets it its still not technically legal because its was never smogged (I know SRs were but not the JDM turbo version) so if the dealer or a guy on the corner gets it for you its still not OK with the EPA.
