Difficulty of SR20 Swap????
Hey guys, I'm new to 240s and an considering buying an 89-94. If I do, I'll fully intend on an SR20 swap. I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to cars, and I know it will take a very good deal of reading to learn everything that I'll need to know to pull something like this off, so what I want to know is exactly how difficult is a swap like this? I know you're not Honda guys but if you know anything about them then I'll ask this....how does it compare to a B16 swap in a civic/crx? There's not anything insanely impossible involved to where you'd highly recommend that I not try this is there? Thanks

If you can get your SR wiring harness intact and uncut from wherever you purchase your motor from it is really quite simple. You will need your SR harness to be slightly modified for use in a USDM car, some wires shortened and some lenghtened, do some research and you will find out what needs to be done. Other than that, if you purchase a 91-93 dohc car its real simple. On the SR you will need to pull off your EGR, and block the hole. You can purchase an SR kit from heavy throttle I think that will give you modified heater hoses and rad hoses and other stuff that you would otherwise have to piece together at a parts store. Then its real simple, pull KA, drop in SR, plug and play. I have never tackled anything of this magnitude before and with the help of a few friends I Had the KA out in about 2.5 hours and over the next 2 days the SR in and running. I could have had it done sooner if I knew about removing the EGR and getting the proper heater hoses. I actually had to pull the motor back out twice because of this.
