engine problems
I'm having problems with my 240, i bought it about a year ago. the guy that i bought it from had swapped it out from a SOHC, to a DOHC. i beleive it is a ka24 engine witch he did a ****ty job on the swap. there are wires that are not conneted, and alot of wires that are cut were, the engine cuts out at 7000rpm sometimes before that in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear, witch causes me to lose in races. im tired of that i want to win ****!!!. would i need a new enigne harness? if so please reply to my troubles.....
1. first off how do u not know what kind of motor you have?
2. 6500 is redline therefore u are hitting a fuel cutoff/rev limiter...u are an idiot for tryin to take ur car that high in the rpms to begin with...
3. max power is at 5600 rpms therefore u trying to bang it off the rev limiter is probably causing u to lose these "races"
4. obviously ur car is stock which is another reason ur losing, u dont need to be racing anyways..

I'm a newbie to nissan engines. i really don't know to much about it. my friends are all honda punks. im the first to have a nissan 240 and i like how it looks and i want to be different. so im clueless on what im doing. but you guyz just reminded me that the prevous owner set the idling at 2 1/2 rpm witch i dont know why, but how would i go n adjust it lower? oh! one more thing to include is that my speedometer does not work so i go off of my rpm gauge. every body says that its a piece of ****, but its my piece of **** of a project car.
thanx 4 da feed back thoe

what do u mean he set the idling at 2 1/2 rpm? like it idels at 2500rpms? you cant really adjust your tack so the engine is really idling there, obviously something isnt right, if he did as ****ty of a job on the swap as you say, then thats prolly the problem...first off check the timing and the aiv...timing should be set at 20degress so ur gonna need a timing gun for that (your Honda buddies should atleast know how to do that) once your timing is correct then the aiv is located on ur intake manifold, inbetween the runners (atleast thats where mine is on the sr20) and that can be adjusted to change idle as well...but dont do that until timing is correct...
make sure all your plugs around the throttle body are plugged in, if not that could cause a raised idle as well..
do that and then check back in
sorry for being an ******* but were not all into the whole streetracing crap on this board, especially with a stock car...i can tell your buds are honda goones lol

thanx. sometimes you need to get yeld at to understand your problems haha. but you said that the plugs around the throtle should be pluged in. thats the problem theres only 2 wires that are pluged in. they only put everything together so that it would work n run. i think that i should just go out n find a new engine harness. would you know anybody thats selling a engine harness for a 1991 nissan ka24 engine? once again thanx 4 tha info.
