I need to find the weight of a few engines (not cars) and I really can't seem to find any information ANYWHERE! Anyone know how much the SR20DET weighs, the CA18DET, and the average KA24E w/ a turbo (KA24ET). Any help?

 

....id like to have this info also. Ive been searching for it for the longest time but still nothing...All I can get is that the SR is a few pounds lighter then the KA..

 

I keep hearing that the SR20 weighs a little bit mroe than the CA, but only by a little. I thought that the CA would be heavier because it has an iron block as opposed to the alum. Also, does the SR20 have better cooling? I heard it does, but I still haven't been able to confirm it.

 

Jynx. There's a big thread over on NICO about it right now, but I'll relay the basic SR20 vs KA24E that was written in SCC's swap article.
"Our engine, which came in a complete front clip, was an early red top with 60,000 kilometers on it. With the transmission, turbo and alternator, the SR20DET weighs 490 lbs. The KA24E we removed weighed 493 lbs. "

 

Isnt the CA a lil heavier then the KA...Ima go take a look at the thread over on NICO.

 

Cast iron dosen't melt at the same temperature aluminum does.
