finished sr20 swap, but.
I finally finished my sr20det motor swap today, and found out the motor is F'ed up, bottom end is completely shot, it is knocking on 3 cylinders if not all 4!
I got a video of it running and it revving, with one of my friends, you barely hear the knocking, but about 3/4 of the way through the video you hear the loud knock. It doesn't sound like much in the video, but it is 4 times as loud and worse.
I got this motor from JDM Engines Corp (www.jdmenginescorp.com), they are located in Richardson, Texas, near Dallas
Do NOT buy motors from this company.
For the people who is looking for a motor swap, research and find repabable companies, there are many out there, I got over my head, and wanted this motor as fast as i could get it, and got F'ed out of $2000.
There has been atleast 2 people i know that have had problems with their motors, one motor the cams were rusted stuck, the other motor, one of the cams was broken in 2 peices!
sucks to be me, I'm working on getting a longblock, and dropping that one in, I'll take pictures this time, the last time I didn't, and I wish I had.
But anyways, here is the video on youtube!

but, I bought the motor in may, and had it turning on, but not on the road (explaination below) within 5 days, and it worked then.
I had to get the money for the fmic kit, exhaust, radiator, etc, I've been having money problems in the last few months, and didn't get it on the road the other day to test it.
It ran fine for about 5-10 minutes on the road, we didn't hotrod it around, just got it in to 2nd gear at 30 mph, and then we parked it for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, then came back to run it again for another friend, and it was knocking like crazy, in 3 if not all 4 cylinders.
I've got a friend calling a few places for a long block to replace it.
after 6 months of work on it, (due to various reasons) I get it on the road and it starts knocking, just my luck!

This time around, I'll take pictures of the swap, and everthing, and make a thread about it, unlike the last swap!

whoa, that is a kick in the nuts.
Its hard to take advantage of the 30 day warranty when you're buying parts in between paychecks and finding time to turn bolts between work and school schedules.
Like you, I bought my motor back in July, and other than seeing it pass the compression test I have no idea if it will even turn over. I hope in the end it will be worth it, cause the experience you shared scares the hell out of me. Only time will tell... Best of luck.

change: (all will work with a 1993 sentra 2 liter fwd sr20)
*thermostat
*water temp sender (its near the block under the intake manifold, it has a single prong connector on it.)
*water thermostat gaskets (both sides)
if you don't know where this water temp sender is, look at this picture.

you probably have already thought of this, but i'll list it for you anyways, I had to change all this out before running the motor, they were all bad.
