I have done 2 sr20 swaps in 2 different 240's......now I have been approached to help in something I think is crazy !! To put a VG30 motor out of a 92 300zx into a 90 240sx !! Anyone heard of this done b4??if so did it work?? it seems like it would fit and only minor mods to trans mount and custom motor mounts would have to be done, but this would be siiiiiiick if it can work !! Comments....replies?????

Yeah you might want to put a zipper on it you'll probably have to pull the engine to change the oil filter. The VG30 is a very large and heavy "cube" of an engine. It's a 2200# front clip(300ZX TT) A skyline engine will fit alot better and only be 400cc smaller but alot lighter.

I hated working on my vg30dett in my 300zx. There's no room to get your hands in anywhere. Any little job was a huge pain in the ***. Pcv's alone is a 3 hour job. Had to pull the engine twice for the turbos which cost major $$$. 20 hours in labor alone.

 

i've heard of it done... very rare though and im not sure how it will turn out.
