Question ka24e to ka24de

Okay... I have the chance to buy a 1989 240sx. But I have a question... what all is required to swap a ka24de in? ie, can you just swap the head or does the whole engine need to be swaped. My next question is, is there any differance between the s14 ka24de and the s13 ka24de?

Do a search, you will find your answers there. You will be better off puttin the whole KA24DE motor in. Much less work involved. Couldn't tell you about the S13 KA to the S14 KA.

There is a difference betweem the S13 and S14 KA24DE, but I believe its mostly wiring. There are other things as well, and it will be easier to just swap in a S13 KA24DE.

Search around, you will find more info on it.

It's all about the wiring....use the SR wiring and you're set for the most part...pretty simple.

ok im planning on swapping out my soch for a dohc and turbo'in it really soon after so would it be better to go for the s13 ka, or the s14 ka. also what would be wrong with using the ka24de wiring because i noticed night said to use the sr wiring. I really wanna search and find all the info myself but i really dont have time due to work and planning on swapping motors this weekend. thanks

swaping heads would raise compression over 11:1. needs some custom work though, but would make a great na engine...

if you could ever get to to stop knocking.

if you swap SOHC to DOHC (full motors) do you need to use the DOHC wiring harness and ECU????? or can you maybe re-pin some of the SOHC wiring harness, or is that not worth the trouble. I am thinking of doing that and i am having a hell of a time finding a straight answer.
I hope these arent dumbass questions..... I am new to the import thing, so go with me a little bit. But if you throw me under the hood of a CAMARO/FIREBIRD I can give you a monster musclecar, but this import stuff is a completely different ballgame..... just thought I would let that be known so I have an excuse for my ignorance.
Thanks,

i just got finished swaping a dohc into mine. the easiest way is to swap the motor, ecu, wiring harness and just sauter the wires needed from the ecu. i only needed six wires because this went into a drift and auto-x car. you will also need the power steering lines, power steering fluid resivoir and the throttle cable. if you have any further questions email me at dragonprelude@rock.com
