Smile new to nissan

ive been into the import scene for awhile but my car of choice were dc2 integras but latley ive been falling into the nissan cars... ill be able to purchase a car in a few months and i plan on getting maybe a 95+ 240sx and plan on doing an engine swap.

my questions are to you guys who have done engine swap etc.

how reliable would the sr20det engines be in the 240?

what the differences are in the redtop and the blacktop?

what years were the sr20det's made and for what model?

what other things would i need to and have to do if i plan on gettin the sr20det swap?

i would also like your guy's opinion on what engine to pick over and etc.

thanks

Yeah, people have been asking those questions lately and the search option works, but let me see if I can answer these questions... oh, and I'm just answering these questions just to test my knowledge so I don't know if I'm correct, soooo help me out people:
1) I've once read that the SR's are very reliable and easy to get replacement parts.
2) The redtop is a little older. The redtop came in the S13 and the blacktop came in thS14.
3) I think number 2 ansmers this question.
4) Engine brackets. I know there is more but I don't know what.

Well, I tried to answer that to my best ability from the knowledge that I got from this forum. If I screwed up, my bad, and if not, hoorah.

S13 Red top is the oldest engine. small turbo pent roof intake (better)
S13 Black top first to have VTC. bigger turbo flat roof intake (worse)
S14 Same a S13 black
S15 6speed gear box (not an easy swap)

SR are reliably if your know how to take car of them and all depends wher you get them from

why is the red top better due to the small turbo pent roof intake compared to the s13black top bigger turbo flat roof intake? and VTC?

the black top is better if you leave it stock
the red top's pent roof can hold more boost and has a better compustion camber. the turbo is only a little bit smaller and with the money you saved you cam make just as much power
VTC changes the timing only at middle RPM levels It is not like VTEC but like V V T

From what I gather, the VVT is not the most impressive option to have. Unless I'm mistaken, it as added for emissions reasons. Anyone have it and think otherwise?

As for body styles of donor cars, get the "S14.5." This is my name for the S14 body style with re-designed front end and some other minor tweaks. Those things are sweet looking! Maybe it's because they kinda look like the Japanese S15...who knows?

I was also (and still am) into DC2 Integras, if you cannot tell by my name. I love Teg's, and mine especially. The Type R is God's gift to FWD cars IMO, but I have started a project 93 S13 race car because I need something RWD to play with. To say that I hate torque-steer is an understatement...

i love the looks of the s13 for some reason -- and i found a nice body kit -- because imo they need one -- and im tired of wwd cars -- i enjoy the feeling of being pushed instead of pulled -- i realized this when driving my friends c5 to its limits
