Oil leaking from valve cover breather??

I noticed latley that some oil has been leaking out through the valve cover breather. a friend of mine says it could be a sign of bad piston rings. anyone else know anything about this symptom??

Is it an open element breather, or the stock PCV connection?

Check/replace your PCV valve and inspect the hose(s) to make sure they aren't plugged. Normally, when the engine's running, the intake draws a constant partial vacuum on the valve cover to relieve pressure from (normal) blow-by. If the PCV system is compromised, pressure will build up in the crankcase, even if you have a good ring seal.
