RB20 Finally boosting-almost...

I got the boost problem fixed finally fixed-sort of. The exhaust wheel was clearanced too close and was rubbing on the exhuast housing in my turbo. I die ground a little out of it and it finally boosted, but then got hot and still rubs, so I have to grind some more material out of it. Sure went like hell tho boosted to about 10PSI and sat me in the seat hard!

I thought mine was only going up to about 8, but I dont have the gauge in yet so I was just guessing by sounds feel and comparing to other turbo cars I have driven. Mine gets up to full boost super quick and just stays there. I cant wait to see what it does with a boost controller and a gauge to monitor it with.
RK good to hear its up and running/boosting
any more info on the cold start prob?

It's what Jon told me. I thought it was only 7psi and when I could get only 10 psi at the lowest setting I was trying to figure out why. With my boost controller turned off it boost at 10psi.

Stock boost on RB20 is 10PSI..the stock gauges dont read in PSI they read in MM-Hg and the 7(00) on there is 13.5 PSI.

The RB25 has a 2 stage boost cut. under 550RPM is 5PSI after is 7PSI.

The R32 RB26 boosts at 10PSI and I believe the R33 RB26 is 11PSI

yeah I'm dfinately boosting about 10PSI. Took it out for a run today, still a little interference in the turbo, going to have to grind one more time. I'm going to have to restrict the oil flow the turbo fills up and oil leaks into the exhaust housing so it smokes once the oil gets warm and thins out. The motor is tight- I took out the plugs and they are CLEAN and I'm not getting any detonation or overheating. Nice to have a motor that was actually meant to be turbo.
