I thought this question would be one that would have like 50 different threads when i typed it into the search bar, but i couldnt really find an answer. Well i probablky sound like a complete noob but my question is if there are any major differences between the sr20det redtop and blacktop besides the color of the valve cover . But really is there? because when i looked at the specs it seem like it was almlost identical,, so how come the blacktop usually found to be a little more expensive?

blacktop s13 is generally newer than the redtop. blacktop s14 is more powerful, and has vct.

no, power isn't the same, vtc + different turbo up the hp from 203 to 220.

REMEMBER: The hp didn't change between the red top and black top until the s14 model was made. There is a black top S13 model, and a black top S14 model. The S13 black top has the same power as the S13 red top, but the only difference is that it was newer.
