Hey guys just a quick/ possibly stupid question from a noob.

I'm doing an sr20 swap and the guy i'm getting the clip from said he had an x-type (or Type-x) s13 blacktop that puts out 220hp. Different tuning in the ecu i think he said was what gave it the extra 15 hp. Has anyone else heard of this type-x s13 blacktop.
I know the s14's put out 220. I asked this on 240sxforums and they gave me all the specs and models and colors, called me stupid and shut down the thread without answering my question. So feel free to do that too but at least give me a yes or no.

Any help would be appricated.

 

ok i think i got it. Let me know if this sounds right. I will take no response as a yes.

All S13 SR's came with 205HP and 203ft-lb. This includes the Type-X model. The Type-X was a special edition 180SX with a different front bumper and taillights. Other than that... There is no difference between the other S13 models. So the 220HP claim is false. The S14's made 220HP not any S13's. Hope this helps.

 

You are correct on your second post dubious14. BTW, blacktop S13 SR's are usually lower mileage then the redtops.

 

Blacktops come with vvt which is in sense nissan version of vtec. It is variable valve timing. The black top did come with a little bit more hp but not enough to make a big differance. The type X was only produced after 96.8 something like that and it did come in the s13 chassis. They stoped sending them to us but kept making them. Them being the 180sx. They still use the rps13 chasis because why modify when it is selling so good. The chances of you having one of these clips is very rare. If so your motor man does not know his stuff. He would pay an A$$ of money for a clip like that and you only paid for a s13 redtop. He is a idiot. Once again this is all information I've read before, if I'm wrong dont be a dick just correct me please.

 

Blacktop S13 SR's do not have any power difference at all, and do not have VVT.

At least none that I know of

 

Its the S14 blacktop (notchtop) that has the VVT

Jus curious but why do blacktop's have lower milage?

the black top engine came out on the rps13 in the 94 type x but didnt come with the other trim packages. they added abs to the cars in 96 with the other packages (lights,seats,etc...).
