s15 SR20 into a S13... is it possiable?

Just thinking if you can drop a RB with some mods you could do an s15 sr20.... Would you have problems with the tranny? To tell the truth I just want six gears... what about the tranny in the sentra spec-r? I know that's a six gear... you think theat could be adapted to fit?

Ive heard that the S15 tranny isnt all that go0d..it just doesnt feel right. And to drop the S15 engine in is a wast of money IMO, not worth the 5+ grand for the engine, then u need to find someone that can drop and wire it up. to Much hassle for that.

First of all, there is no Sentra Spec-R. Spec-R is a S15 Silvia trim.

Just because it's a Nissan 6-speed tranny, doesnt mean it'll fit any Nissan. Sentra Spec-V uses a FWD drivetrain and uses a completely different engine (QR, as opposed to SR and KA). If it is even remotely possible, it would definitely not be worth the cost.

If you want a S15 engine, then you need a S15 tranny. And why do you want 6 speeds so bad? Have you researched the gear ratios of a SR20DET tranny?

HyJynX, you sure give a lot of 240SX advice for one who doesn't even own a 240SX. I don't mean to flame your credibility, but have you ever owned/driven a 240SX? Do you have any theoretical or basic knowledge of mechanics? Or are you little more than a post ***** who spends all day on online forums memorizing aftermarket trivia and namebrands and regurgitating it to sound knowlegdeable. Useful advice usually comes from experience and mechanical engineers, not word of mouth or aftermarket capitalists.

Well, I guess I can give you props for the dedicated enthusiasm and admiration you exhibit for a car you don't even own.

OK, The problem with installing a S15 6 speed tranny is that the speed sensor isn't mounted on the tranny like the KA or earlier SR's, it's mounted on the differential. To get a S15 tranny to work you need a S15 drive shaft and differential, though I'm not sure how well it'll bolt up to a 240sx subframe. It can be done and has been done I'm just not sure whether you need an S15 subframe for it to work.... Oh and yes you can bolt on a S15 tranny to a S13 or S14 (just as you can mount a 5 speed on a S15), but you'll need to swap the diff and crap too. Other than that for a 6 speed tranny I think HKS might make a 6 speed, but I'm not sure.

Well i dont weither to say thanks or F off haha. Yes i have driven a 240sx b4, a Stock KA24E to be exact. Im not a professional Mechanic or anything, im just a anxious younging learning about cars waiting to actually get my car and do my swap. I do have basic knowledge of a mechanic and am still learning. Usually in my posts i say, From wut ive heard, so they should know that i have heard it from some one, or a few people, and that im just spreading it around. Anways..i lost my train of thought and yea. I wish to soon be a educatded mechanic and tell evryone Hands on exprience that i have had with cars...Dont know if any of this made sense but w/e.

"What you've experienced" is twenty times more valuable than "what you've heard". When you pass along unsupported "what you've heard" as advice, it doesnt do too much as far as help goes. What if it is misinformation? What if it is from another thinks-he-knows-it-all? You would be merely perpetuating ignorance. I know you're trying to help, but sometimes its better when the unknowledgeable stay silent for the sake of curbing confusion.

Personally, if I were in search of answers, I would want a primary source, or a link to a primary source, instead of a dolt relaying possible rumors. (Note: this is not an indirect statement about you)

Of course, I cannot control you in what you post, nor am I trying to. Just making a point in the best interests of fellow forum members.

But isnt that the chance that u take asking questions anywhere? The only way u will be sure that it is true and not false and not being misinformed is to get off ur lazy *** and do that thing. U will get misinformation now and then..we arent perfect and will have the answer all the time, wut can ya do.

The S15 uses a weird sprung flywheel (yes, flywheel), also. I was checking out a local's S15 clutch and it looks nothing like my S13 one. I'm not sure if you can use an S13/S14 fly/clutch/pp with the S15 tranny or not. S15 clutches are expensive, too.
