SR20 or Turbo KA???????? Help!!!

I have a 1990 240 SX right now Im having a hard time desiding between doing the swap and getting the SR20 or Turboing my KA.
Many people say that the the KA with a turbo and some work can be faster then the SR20 because it's a 2.4L (2400cc) Mine is a SOHC not the DOHC so I don't know if that would apply to the SOHC engine. I haven't seen a SOHC with a turbo I have seen a DOHC 2.4L with turbo.
If there is anyone out there with a KA SOHC turbo or with an SR20 that whent through the same desicion I would like your thoughts on this. Because I know i will have to spend the same amount of money on the KA SOHC to get it to perform better then an SR20 where as I can take that money and drop it into the SR20 and have instan't performance and no running around to find the right parts. So my question is If I have to spend the same amount of money do I run around trying to get the best part for my KA SOHC and do all the upgrades or do I just drop in the SR20 and put up with torque loss. And if I do that how much of a difference is there and witch engine has more potential? I need some ones expert opinion on this. Thanks.

How many miles are on your KA? If it has lots of miles I wouldnt want to try it, or rebuild the engine fully. It would be a harder project, more time consuming and expensive. If you are willing to do some searching for internals for the KA and willing to rebuild and turbo it, go for it. It will totally be worth it in the end.

i personally would do the swap. sence yours is a SOHC i would try to turbo it. the SR20 has a lot more potential. your going to end up spending around $1,500 for a complete turb kit. u can get a sr20det for $2,500. There are many places out there that have SR20 parts also. if u decide to turbo your KA here is a web site that sells a turbo kit.

sr20 please.. don't forget the rb series. rb20 is kikass for cheap money rb25 is god but ungodly price and then there is the rb 26. ok forget that one. i don't have $10,000 either. the sr20 is my happy place. low mileage reliable motor built for turbo for less than $2000 including shipping??? this seems kinda like a no brainer. anyway i don't think this has ever been covered before so somebody had to ask right?????? oh... wait.... ive put my 2 cents worth in on this exact same question about 30 times in the last 2 months.
