sr20det in a 90 240sx exhaust q's

hi all, im planning on swaping the stock motor for the s13 sr20det.

i was wanting to know what exhaust i would need to have for this swap.

do i use the aftermarket 240 turbo exhaust
(like the apexi n-1 161-N004, or the GT Spec 171-N003)

or do i use the stock exhaust for the s13 sr20det motor?

thanx in advance.

You can use the stocker but an aftermarket one will free up some HP because it'll relieve some backpressure. Hell, the stock one hinder's the stock KA's performance. But if you aen't too worried about performance yet, the stock one will do.

ok thanx guys, i want a real good sound and performance from the exhaust, so if an aftermarket 240 exhaust will fit the down pipe of the sr20det then ill get it.

you'll need a test pipe or a cat, if your going with a aftermarket downpipe and exhaust you will bottle neck your exhaust there. The cat will stay very hot if you use the stock one. I would sugest deleting it.

sweet, The exhaust sounds so good. You can get a local exhaust shop or a welding shop to get you a stainless exhaust. I mean bottle neck by the exhaust will be forced into the smaller cat and slowing the the exhaust gases down. You can buy a test pipe from Enjuku racing, sure many other places carry them to but I know for a fact that Enjuku does

thats good to know, thanx.

do you have a website for enjuku for the test pipe?

i can weld pretty good so i dont think i would need to take it to a shop unless i had to widen the end of a pipe, (no pipe bender) lol, but if i dont need to then thats cool.

so all i basically need is the test pipe and buy the aftermarket turbo exhaust to run exhaust for the sr20det?

Can you tig(tungsten inert gas) weld that is what you will need to do to have a stainless test pipe. You will not need a pipe bender because the test pipe just takes the place of your stock cat. If you want to order one from EnjukuRacing.com its a very easy site to navigate.
