SR20DET - Definately NOT Impressed
RB20 and SR20's are very reliable engines...they work great in the 240SX. The RB motor does drop right in, but to get perfect stock fitment of the engine, you need custom mounts.
SR20DET - sorry, I never saw your post...if you're still reading this forum, feel free to PM me and I can answer your questions about pricing etc...off the board.

Boy now im all confused
I wanna get an SR but after reading this, it seems like they suck. I have seen where they run low 14's to high 13's bone stock. But now that night had his run in the 15's stock is terrible. With a little minor tuning on my KA it could do that. One major question about doin the RB swap is how much will it affect my car's front to rear weight ratio? ANd how much would you need to beef the suspension on an S13 to hold an RB?

Thanks Night, you've really helped me out alot with your answers tp my questions.
But i have a few more. I'm wondering whether the s14-blacktop runs better than the s-13 that u put in your fastback. I'm looking at buying a 97-98 kouki and swapping in a sr. But now that i've read up about the sr and rb i see that the rb is a little more powerful but a lot cheaper. Why is that??? I would also like to know will it be harder to find parks for teh rb??
Once again thanx for all the help

The S14 is better because it has variable valve timing. Parts for the RB are still a little hard to get, but more and more shops are staring to do the RB swap and stock lots of parts. I think the RB is cheaper because everyone and their brother doesn't have one and they are prolly easier to find in the junk yards in japan.
Tommy - the RB20DET weighs 65 pounds more than a KA24E...and about 35 pounds more than a KA24DE. Your stock suspension is fine...as will be your weight ratio.
Nkk - in videos I have seen of stock S14 kouki's in Japan, they run about a 14.8-14.9 stock...reason being that they have a VLSD in the back and can get traction...those that I have seen run that 1/4 time were almost brand new cars as well. If I had a good LSD on the back of my car, it would have probably been in the high 14's, low 15's as well. The RB's are cheaper because they cost a lot less in Japan to purchase...S14 motors are still fairly new, and S14's retail for quite a bit in Japan.

). the 25 has bigger pistons and bigger displacement (duh). the 25 is much more worth it than a 20
