SR20DET Red & Black top: Differences?
Ok to help fix some of the confusion.

S15 Silvia 250HP
NiSmO Knight, some of us still sell the SR20DET for what it's worth, not it's inflated price thanks to D-1. I realize the RB25 and RB26 are the beast's of the bunch, but I'm looking for all around performance handling and braking, still torn between SR20 and RB20.

But to go into better all around performance handling, like Cameron said, the RB is the better choice engine to balance the weight of the whole car with doing 2 simple mods (which ultimately u will have to do, unless u wanna use a lil dinky battery) relocate the battery to the rear, and get a CF hood... 52% weight in the front, 48% in the rear... how mouch more sweeter can u get with those percentage ratios? Especially if u have an engine that puts out higher horsepower and torque potiential?
Braking, 300ZX 4 piston calipers with the "Green Stuff" brake pads up in the front will more than substantially stop u with an RB under the hood. after researching about the rear brakes, I wouldnt invest my money into picking up the Z rear brakes since they only provide jus a very lil bit more stopping power. The difference between the rear stock 240 brakes and the Zs, are jus a mere few percentages... And if u seriously want stopping power, Wheel Woods big brake front kit, again IMO, the stock rears are more than enough to do the trick (even if its drifting).
I know that the SRs are getting dirt cheap to buy, but seriously, the SR to me, is an obsolete engine in my book. Its still a good engine (if it wasnt, Nissan wouldnt have ever created it in the first place), but total potential output is wut I aim for overall. And since most places I go to for prices and all, SR20 and RB25 are both one in the same price wise... so, Id rather pay the same amount of cash for a definit hands down better engine.
But in ur case, Id recommend to go with the RB20, since it has more torque over the SR... GO RB!!!!

180SX S13 was 94-98? I've never seen a 98 very strange.
NiSmO Knight, the RB25 would be sweet, but importing and selling is my business, and it's a big hurt to snag a RB25 clip out of the company stock for myself. I drove a 240 with a SR20 swap in it today, and it was pretty impressive-when it's on the pipe. It's dead for torque tho until about 3300-3500RPM. I race solo 2 autocross, and our courses here are small and pretty tight. The fact that the RB20 is only a few lbs heavier than the KA24 is making me lean towards it anyway. I know how much weight off the front of the car changes things, I felt a improvement in steering response and handling when I moved the battery to the trunk in my last car, so I know what a 100 extra lbs would feel like up front, not good. The RB20 is going in, along with a Silvia front conversion and battery relocation. Should be a decent package.

Oh... and the 180sx (RPS13) was discontinued here in the US in 94, but because of popularity in Japan, they kept it on the production line till 98... hehe I was like wtf too when my friends told me bout it... but yea, I wish they did keep the 180 on the US market till 98 too!
We actually have some pretty fast honda's here, a guy with a CRX and a Turbo'd Integra ZC hit some 12's on the strip, but then last week threw a rod. I'm after the whole package, the "ultimate Street car" if you want to call it that. Versatility, comfort, power, handling, and RELIABILITY. My last car was a 91 Civic Hatch with a T3 on a single cam ZC, and it went good, but it was so much power the car didn't feel good. Terrible torque steer and suspension wear, the suspension just wasn't built to take the power, and it always idled like crap and there's nothing I could do without a standalone setup........so instead of another $1200 into it I sold it for $4000 and now it's RB 240SX time
