SR20DET Swap, Parts List for a Newb please!

Hey, i'm selling my 97 neon (DOHC) for 3600 to a friend and am looking to get a 95-99 240SX with VERY high miles or a engine that doesn't run anymore, for about $1,000 (USD) and then buying a SR20DET off ebay, or a site you guys recomend, can you guys give me the URL to a how-to for the swap and a parts list? i would really appreciate it and if anyone wants to give me some reviews about their SR20DET swapped 240SX please IM me on aim, paradawx

Ok...its ganna be very hard to find a S14 for 1k. They stopped selling 240s in 98 so there is no 99. The cheapest you will find a S14 for is probably 3k in OK condition. How much in all do you have to spend on the car and engine, and why do you want to go straight into the SR swap?

first off, welcome aboard. secondly, like JynX said, 95-98 240's nearly impossible to find in the $1K range. hell, 95-98's (henceforth known as S14's) are hard enough to find period (simply because fewer were made). i can pretty much guarantee u that the high mileage cars u saw sold for $1K were S13's (89-94). still, even if u got an S13 (for $1000) and an SR20DET front clip or motor set, u'll still easily go past $3600. seriously, research the swap, the parts needed, and the "possible unforseen expenditures" and u will see that...

mmhmm...you will need MINIMUM 5k for a car and a SR and a couple goodies...trust me. Even if you install it yourself there will be problems and it is always good to have that extra money just in case. It isnt as easy as everyone thinks.

man, some people dont want the hastle of having to build internals and buying seperate turbo kit etc etc,,, so they put in the engine that originally belonged in there....it fairly quick to some people and you can make them reach a good street reliable goal as well... but lets not get into the whole ka vs sr... its really getting annoying going from board to board the ka vs sr comes up... just simply answer his question...

ok so you find an s14 for however much

then you buy a front clip for lets say ermm $3300 with everything you need for a STOCK set up, unless somehow you happen to get after market stuff on your clip..

but after market wise these are what i recommend

Greddy VSPL 800
Walbro Fuel pump 100
3 Inch exhaust all the way out Down pipe for 150 test pipe 90 exhaust 450
spec 2 or 3 clutch depending what your power goals are 325
Greddy Profec B 320
boost guage of any sort

and you have a nice 13second car with ac and power steering...

That engine isnt even suppose to be in the 240 (notice how i said 240 and not silvia or 200sx) and it wouldnt pass smog. And many other things probably, basically its illegal end of story lol
