If you get caught with the sr in do they fine you as well as make you change it out??.

 

Well each place is a lil different then other. Here in south cali ive heard of people getting pulled over for supposed street racing...they get theyre car towed and never see it again And ive heard of other people getting caught with aftermarket parts and need to go to the referre(sp?) (A referre is a smog person, but really hardcore. They actually know what they are looking for and will look over EVERY INCH of your car.) If you dont pass the smog then im not totally sure what happens..but i know the referre will know its a illegal engine make you either change it out or junk your car. Again they are a lil tougher here in south cali then other places.

 

wait so can u still pass a State Inspection (to get the sticker) with an SR/RB/CA or will they notice? i still dont know EXACTLY what they do in state inspection... will they bust you for a swap? or do they not care, and not know anyway? grr im such a noobie to SR's and swaps in general... well help me out.. i live in Texas, how could i get caught with a swap? are cops and "refereee"s the only people that can catch me or even notice a swap? and also.. basically wut im asking is.. do they do smog tests at State Inspection?

 

Stop asking for legal advice in a public forum. Contact your locals and ask what the inspection covers...go to local car shows or places people meet and ask them if they know what they will be looking for. But I guarantee you that an SR will not pass visual (without padding someones pocket) because the 240 was not offered in the USA with a Turbo of any sort. People need to realise that offering legal advice such as what is being sought by some can get a site in trouble...and if its serious enough the people involved can get popped as well. Who knows......there may just be a cop on the other side of the keyboard trying to find out such stuff to use it against people........

In short, ANY jdm engine swap is 100% illegal in the USA. That engine was never suppose to be in a 240, there in fact it is illegal. If you do get caught, and sum people have, then you will be sent to the refree (a smog guy that know EVERYTHING about cars) They will give you a date, you show up and get ur smog done...if your dumb and do it with a SR, im not totally sure what happens but you might not have ur car for long. If you pass smog then you are 0k, the only way to pass the test is with a KA.
Cops usually dont know its a SR or RB..if they sense that something is weird under ur hood then they will write you up for sumthing like a aftermarket exhaust or air filter and make u go tot he refree and they will get you in trouble. Hope that made sense...
