Stock KA to SR20 Red Top

Hey guys, I plan on changing my KA24 to the SR20. I am 17 and I am going to be 18 this June. My Dad just bought the car for me for three hundred dollars and it only needs a passenger side fender and a front bumper.

I want to put a SR20 in there but I have a few questions.
1)What is a good price for the engine?
2)What is a good turbo to use since it will be the car that I will drive everyday?
3)Is there a turbo that can be used on the KA and the SR?
4)I read that it will need some new wiring, how hard is it and is there a kit for it?
5)Is the SR a "Direct drop in?"
6)Can I use the stock KA transmission on the SR20 engine?
7)Can a KA "Cold Air Intake and a BRM Exhaust" work on a SR20?

Thanks.

It's called the search button. It can be located in the brown bar at the top of the page. It is your friend. Just read your little heart off. You might want to google search the principles of turbocharging too, I'm not sure you realize what is involved. Knowledge is Power!

I know a lot about engines but not so much about the SR20 and no, the engine will be done by my Dad and I at his shop. I asked if the parts are interchangable because so part could be changed in between different engines. Thanks.

well thats why i gave u the links

anyways a lot of it all depends on how much power u want out of the car

cold air intakes arent used because turbo cars run intercooler piping to the intake manifold

how much experience have u had with driving a powerful rwd?

if i were u i would but a front clip with the tranny and uncut wiring ect, that would cure a lot of hassle..just a tip would be to put a metal headgasket in before u put it into the car, headgaskets blow fast on sr's

turbos are universal, just depends on you manifold, so most modern turbos are going to be used on any engine, just depends on how it is clocked really

oh were not trying to be douchebags, but your like the trillionth person to ask these questions and there all answered already, search button is gona be your best friend, then once you get past all the vague questions, then ask the more specific ones..

dude...we aren't going to hold your hand..maybe they did that **** with "american" cars.

anyway..not trying to be a dick but dude, seriously?? why would a turbo car have a cold air intake?? seriously..just try to search before you post..

by the way..its questions like that cause people to make fun of us..

anyway..no hard feelings..i hope that your swap goes well..good luck

..just think before you post

The chassis itself is the same, but engine wise they are like night and day. best way to put it, its like comparing an LS1 to a Chevy V6. Not a whole lot will be interchangeable.

Reason why the guys are "on your back" is because we get thousands coming here asking the same questions. All you need to do really is use the search button, or even quicker, check out the stickied threads, they explain A LOT. This forum has been around for years and the questions you've asked have (as we said) been covered, just search for them and you'll find your answers. Its no big secret about the swap now a days, its very common knowledge that even repeats itself in the magazines. Asking your questions on any 240 forum would give you the same reaction (actually, worse)

So yeah, do your best with google and the search button up top before asking certain questions. Saves you A LOT of pain from the sharks.
