Vg30dett

i think ive heard of this being swapped into an s13 but i would like more information on this because iam thinking of doing something different (sr20det)...so my questions are is the swap possible, how hard would it be compared to a basic sr20...how much would i have to modify the motor mounts, is this swap worth the while time and money and how hard is it to work the the motor...

i would definetly not recomend this swap, ur putting a V6 DETT in there, logically this sucker won't fit. Next is there won't be any room to do repairs, think about the craped nature of the engine in the Z32. But if you got a lot of money its possible, i think on a budget basis. there is a guy in Iowa or Ohio that put a V8 small block into his 240, said he got bored, but that engine is smaller in total size, im thinking the 2 turbos wouldn't fit if u were to stuff it in there. Theres always SP engineerings Supra 7 to look at too, a TT in the RX7's engine bay, i should refrase my respionce to anything is possible, just a matter of money. look at michael jackson, hes white now

Doesn't fit. Go with a small block V8.

Someone sent me information on Small Block Chevy swap kits he was working on a while back. I will post the info/pics here when I find them.

Nope, I never heard anyone saying the RB didn't fit.

The VG30DE(TT) won't fit because of the width of the heads - they won't fit between the strut towers of the S13/S14. Z32 used a double wishbone setup that freed up some space up top in the engine bay - where the heads will enterfere with the S chassis strut towers.

There are some examples of the SOHC version being dropped in through. (VG30E)

I got a friend who is putting a V8 into a 280z. The engine is out of 91 Vette. That thing is gonna be nuts. All he has left is to do is wire it up.

Yah, Unstable Hybrids does VG30ET swaps. Also a guy from z31.com (Mattback) is selling kits with everything you need for the swap.

go with the rb25 or rb26 and then you can say you have a skyline inside.

lol i could just imagin him with a sticker on his car similar to the intel one saying "skyline inside" ...

anyways....
i'm not really discourging against him putting a vg30 in there to begin with.... hell i'd be interested to see what kinda performance that thing will pull.... but i'd probbaly recommend going with the non-turbo instead

ya the VG30 can be done. I believe it takes some modifications though (not sure). However, the engine was hard enough to work on in a 300z so it definetly would not be easy to work on in a 240. If you want something different then go for it.
