what is this noise from sr?
Ive been recently noticing this noise coming from the engine bay. I dont know what it is. It sounds like a fluttering noise or a low tone bee or fast flapping sound. something like dat, hard to explain, lol. Car idles and runs same as before, but when I get past 5.5k+ rpm I start hearing it and its loud.... on my boost gauge it shows that its holding my stock boost. but it kinda feels like it lost power, but not to much.
any ideas? leak,hole,something broken?
thanks in advance

Just get your turbo rebuilt and a BOV. Do you by any chance have oil in your charge pipe? Sound you might be hearing could be from shaft play due to your seals. But if this is the case you will more than likely have oil in your charge pipe.
i recently installed a bov, but something still makes the same noise at 5krpm + somewhere near the driver side engine bay.
what are you refering to as the charge pipe? im thinking of the piping from the IC into the turbo? sorry i dont know that much terms on turbo parts.
thanks
im gonna check the gaskets and shaft play.
when people say shaft play, how much will it move to be bad?

Yes im refering to your intercooler pipping. your going to have a little movement but very very little. You might also focus on the wastegate. Is it the stock internal or have you put an external on. You might be hearing your wastegate fluttering open and closed. Check the vac line going to the actuator from the pipping to make sure there is no cuts or leaking in that area. Like Catharsis said you might be having a boost leak and your just not noticing it until you get into full boost at high rpm's. I would just do a once over of all the fittings and vac lines to make sure there is no problems. Good luck.
