I was commenting on your comment that you would prefer an SR20DE fwd than an SR20DET. That is fricking ludicrus!
Lets get away from power for one sec and talk about reliability!!
would you guys say the sr20det is just as reliable if not better than the Ka24?
my 240 is a 92, ive had it fro 5 yrs now and i have never had major problems with it, how certain can i be that the sr20det will do as good of a job after i swap it?

Saying a GTI-R SR20DET engine or a bluebird SR20DET has to be rebuilt to be able to put out big boost.
Here is a example of what I am talking about
Nissan Sunny GTI-R
Power=227hp (crank hp not wheel hp)
Torque=200ibft
0-62mph=5.97 sec
Top speed 139.66 mph
(it is geared for rallying) and yes I know this is stock
A guy that I know has a
Nissan 200SX SE-R
(with the factory US SR20DE motor)
Power = 475 hp @ 6800 rpm(wheel hp not crank hp)
Torque=437lbft @5250rpm
and tes I know this is modded.

I don't think any turbo motor is as reliable as a non-turbo motor at all. But that is just my opinion..
Turbo= more pressure on the internals more pressure means more likely to hurt the engine and be harder on its internals.
But far as reliable I think the motors are pretty evenly matched being turboed they both are good motors.

I happen to believe a properly-tuned turbo motor can be just as reliable as a N/A motor. Of course, it'll cost you to get that reliability, depending on how much boost you wanna run.
A mildly-boosted turbo car can provide a darned good balance of power and reliability.
While turbo tuning can get expensive, gains are generally better compared to N/A tuning. With N/A, little gains can cost big money!

I have two cars w'SR20DETs. I would put either of them up against your cars.
Anyone who would say they would rather have an SR20DE fwd instead of an SR20DET has little knowledge to back up their comments. Furthermore...how many cars come with the SR20DET in the states?
My theory is that most who don't want an SR20DET are secretly wanting one...they just don't want to admit it. The are in SR-Craver-Denial...a chronic disorder that can only be cured with a heavy dose of turbination.

edit:
I also stated that I already have a fwd SR20DE motor in my 1998 200SX SE-R and I am adding a turbo to it it would be a waste of a good motor. Plus buying a Japenese SR20DET that has been setting for years is not my piece of pie either.
shouldn't it be if you want a 4 banger get a ca if you like a 6 go rb?
sr is not a good motor in my eyes . sorry not to offend any sr owners.
seen way to many sr blocks being trash.
spun bearings ,blown cylinder walls.
everyone wants over 400 hp on a sr but not to pay the cash to resleave it. so they end up toast.
or tap a valve.
rocker arm stoppers? need i say more wtf?

i don't think so.....sr's are total waste of money time and aluminium.
to many week points in the motor.
and yes i've had 2 of them but will never again.
ca or rb all the way!
