Is there any major difference between the s13 redtop and blacktop engines vs. the s14 blacktops? I'm new to the 240sx but am seeing that many people made more s13 redtop swaps than s14 swaps. Granted the s14 SR20DET is about $1500 more, but are there any advantages between the 2 engines. I am deciding on which motor I want to go with. Anyone have any advice or recommendations?

Thanks for the specs, but I read up on that already. I guess the information I'm looking for is more on, is one engine better than the other? Is there a benefit of spending $1500 more for a newer engine if they are both the same? The only difference I really see the turbo, which wont really matter to me since I'll be changing that anyways.

 

well, besides the turbo, the S14 SR has that VTC variable valve timing thingy. other than that, the T28, and being newer, i don't see much difference. personally, i'd rather get a clean S13 blacktop (from a kouki 180) or even a clean redtop and put the leftover dough into building it. however, if u prefer "newer" and lower miles (above all else), then the S14 would be the way to go...
