I am able to acquire a S15 engine with ECU and harness. I am aware of the amount of work required to fit a S15 tranny into a S13 chassis so I am planning to buy a separate S13 tranny from a redtop SR20DET. My question is, will a S13 tranny work without any problems with the S15 engine and what modifications are needed if any?

actually it is kinda common to swap out the 6 speed and put the 5 speed just because of the stronger gears.

I think you either need the tranny or rear end from the S15 for the variable valve timing to work properly. I think this was true with the S14 at least. Check with www.heavythrottle.com and they'll be able to tell you exactly.

You need the differential, not the tranny.

I drove a 92 S13 with a S14 tranny installed. I didnt like it. it had horrible low end power. I don't know if its the engine or the tranny's fault, but top end, it was really nice.
