wiring problems

alright ive been doin an s13 sr swap for a while now and had it finished and ran into some wiring troubles and my harness got fried. so i bought a new harness and decided to do the wiring my self this time but its doing the same thing the alternator ground wire is heatin up like crazy when i try to crank the engine. so i took the alternator and got it tested and it was bad, i got a new one and am still having the same problems. the thing is it only happens when i crank the motor, i also tried changing the starter solenoid with a stock ka but not the full starter seein as theyre hard *** hell to get a hold of for the sr but once again im havin the same problem. any suggestions on what i could be?

i think i got it figured out i pulled apart my lower harness and found the two wire plug that plugs into the alternator, the small white wire with the red stripe was cut, does anybody know what that wire goes to and if that could cause it to heat up the alternator ground

Not sure about that wire. You should look it up in the FSM. As for the ground wire heating up, isn't it possible to add a couple thick wires from the alternator and ground it to the chasis for extra protection.

well try taking his advice. there is no such thing as too many grounds.

Just a tidbit.. but when my buddy put his rebuilt engine into his car, he didn't have enough grounds and so when he started his car up, flames came out of the engine bay.

So put more grounds. try adding another ground from the alternator to the chasis.
