S15 Headlight Question
S15 Headlight Question
I bought a new car that has a s15 headlight conversion (its not a 240) and i figured the members of a 240 forum would be best to ask. Im currently looking at the headlights and they average around 625-650 for the lights but they also have the hid headlights that are about 2200. My question is, is there a difference between the lights? Couldnt you just buy the regular lights and an hid kit and save yourself about 1000? I dont know much about these lights so i figured id ask before i went ahead and ordered parts.
BTW i have searched these boards for the last 2 days looking for an answer and i did not find anything about it.

When you buy HID kits for lights that were not made for it, it will usually put out a horrible beam pattern and make it pretty much blinding to anybody in front of you. When the headlights are already HID stock, they are setup to put out a correct beam pattern and will be forgiving to other drivers. The best way to add HID to your car would be to retrofit some other cars projectors into the your headlights. Once Spencer sees this he should come in and spread his knowledge, he is the HID God on these forums.
oh ok, i know the basic concept for the hids and projector lights. for some reason i was under the assumtion that the stock s15 lights were projector headlghts. if they are not then that would make sense as to why the hid s15's are so much money
there are two kinds of projector s15 headlamps, halogen and hid. both will have beam patterns suited for right hand drive vehicles and won't be acceptable to drive on us roads. the halogen projectors do not take well to hid kits, i suggest you read this to understand how to use hid technology to its full potential.
