240sx for first car

Hey guys, im new to the forums and thought Id say that im in the market, looking for a 240sx for my first car but I thought id ask you guys for some more info on the 240sx's and how good of a car they really are. The 240sx i've been looking at is a 1991 with 135,000 miles for $1800$ and or yea if yall can help me out and tell me how long these cars last and if its a good idea to get this car for my first car !

Also, if i were to get the 240sx, im looking to mod it a lil in the near future to give it a lil more boost later on after i've had the car for awhile and id like to know how well they are in the modding stages of these cars - how well and easy they are to mod and other good stuff to know

thanks

I got my 91 240sx with 200,000kms on it for $3800cdn. It's an automatic and it runs really well. Nothing wrong with it. A really fun car and its rear wheel drive!. Its got OK power without doing anything to it. A really good looking car that doesn't look that dated at all. I would go for it. Your on a 240sx message board so...responses may be a little biased.

biased indeed! haha, but yea i got my 91 240sx back in 1999, with 98k for 1500 USD, now it has 166k and its still kicking strong, with the right care it can last way past 200k, as for modding, there quite easy, well as easy as modding can be anyhow, theres alot of aftermarket support, so finding parts wont be much of a problem, definetly now more so than ever, due to the 240sx popularity bloom.

i believe there is a thread in the FAQ section that says what to look for if buying a 240. I read it before i bought mine and it helped tons.

Edit : the thread is for an s14 but some of the same things will apply to an s13. Biggeswt thing is rust by the hatch and rust anywhere in general

S13 = 89-94 (USDM/JDM) Hatchback and Coupe/Convertible
S14 = 95-98 (USDM/JDM) Coupe Only
S15 = 99-00 (?) (JDM only) Coupe/Convertible

if you live in the states, your only choice are the S13 and S14

for pictures either google or go to www.cardomain.com

Well the 240sx that i want is a 1991 s13 hatchback. If I was to get this car, would i be able to mod the stock engine easily and turbo/supercharge it or will i have to go another way.

I was just thinking maybe getting the engine up to 250 hp if possible on stock s13 engine

its possible, but its best to get a low mileaged engine, seeing its a 91, youd probably have to rebuild and strengthen the engine before turboing it, most people when wanting to turbo there car usually get a JDM engine (SR20DET) since its already factory turbo'd, and its pretty much bolt on.
