240sx Insurance prices

Hi im new to this board. I recently have a MKIII Supra, well its a gas guzzler from hell (14mpg) and i just moved out in the country. Well i need another car, but i love the 80s style sports cars like RX7s, Supras, 240s, etc. I want to know how much insurance would be for a 240. Its an 89, im 18, and good grades, etc. Whatever else you would need to know go ahead and ask, i just need a new car, im tired of bloqing $40+ a week on gas. Thanks a bunch.

well...i'm 26 now and i'm paying $580 in six monthes through state farms...full coverage...and i think i used to pay about $200 a month under my dad when i was 18yo...so it's not cheap...
i don't think 240s are that great in gas milage either...everybody spends $40 a week or more now...with the gas price these days...

Well i dont plan for the 240 to be any kind of race car, my supra is for that. Just a daily driver, with no future, maybe... I pay 235 a month on my supra, its killing me. Im happy i got a good job that pays alot. I might just retire the supra under my insurance, and only as a race car, then have the 240 under normal. Anyone else got any input?

Well id love to get an old EG6 civic. But there is this big thing going on down here, if u drive a honda your a poser. Im not for that. Plus ive always wanted a 240sx. When i got my supra, i first thought it was a 240sx, but i was just as happy to see it was a supra. I just have this thing for old sports cars.

you should just call some insurance agencies near you and get quotes from them. they'll ask for your age, type of car, what kind of coverage you want, etc. should be easy and you'll get accurate information.

you'll definately get better gas mileage with a 240.

You should get rid of the Supra and use that money on the 240sx , do a RB25DET swap in the 240sx, it would probably be faster then your Supra, but then again I have no clue what is done to the Supra. You will be running 12's with the RB
swap though and still getting good gas mileage.

well DETurbine, my philosophy is...money is money, speed is speed. So the quickest and cheapest way to be fast is what matters. Toyota supra turbos run high 14s stock. Put a catless DP, full 3" exhaust and 4" can, no cats, Manual boost up to 15psi, K&N FIPK, and some "home depot" mods. You can easily run low 13s and possibly high 12s. All for under 1000. Pretty cheap. An RB25 alone costs what....2500? 240SXs are handling cars, not straight line cars. But anyways, ill call up some insurance companies. Could i get a discount if i own 2 cars, or would it be doubled?

If I were you I'd just buy an AE101 Corolla and put the Supra as a recreational vehicle. I say an AE101 because you could probably get one cheaper than a 240sx and they get WAY better gas milage. They have a lot of potential too.

yea you should get a multi-car discount, and tell the ins. company the supra isnt a daily driver and you should get a discount for that also.

Well you see "im with stupid", i am so obsessed with old 80's and early 90's sports cars, its not even funny. RX7s, Supras, Porches, Ferraris, Corollas, Celicas, MX6s, Eclipses, 300ZXs. And 240sxs are the easiest to find and have good gas mileage. While everyone here is racing tricked out hondas, im eating them alive near stock with a supra. I just like it better that way. One day, ill own them all. And geting the 240sx is one step closer, lol.

you would get a discount but probably only 10% or so

regarding the daily driver thing: they'll ask you what your yearly mileage is on the supra. if its under 5k then i think you get a 5% discount. most discounts are very small. you get more money chopped off too for the automatic seatbelts. the discounts arent much but better than nothing

the numbers i gave were approximate and were based upon massachusetts insurance but most likely it will be different for you.

in mass all insurance companies have to offer the same rates. is it the same for you or is it competetive?
