2k idle and bad mpg - Clutch slip also??
2k idle and bad mpg - Clutch slip also??
Any idea why my s13 ka-e idle might be at 2k? I tried the "tap the gas" trick, but no luck. And going from my house to work takes almost 1/4 tank. It's about 30 miles going at about 60 the whole way. Possable connection?
On a side note, would an exhaust leak hitting the tranny make teh clutch slip when its warm outside or after slightly extended idle/sitting? it seems to be the case, but im not sure.
Thanks for the help

just set your idle. if you have a exhaust manifold leak it could cause it to have a kinda loopy idle and bad gas because the oxygen sensor isnt getting everything it should. the same things wrong with mine. also a ka-e. good reason to get a header...lol
Would one of those muffler repair kits work? I looked underneath and it looks like it has 2?? mufflers or something, one by teh tranny and one at the end. I cut off the one at the end because inside was all torn up and made a horrable noise at 3k rpm.
But if i just patch the hole at the 1st?? muffler, should fix these?
UPDATE!!
I saw my exhaust senser i think it was, the one on the right side of the engine was unplugged. when i plugged it in, the idle went down to about 1,000 for a bit, but seemed to run sluggish and surged the slightest bit on acceleration. I unplugged it again and idle stays at 2k, but seemed to run better over all.

the second muffler your talking about is your resonator. (my spelling is probably wrong im tired and had a long day at work,) but back to you. what it does is make your exhaust not as loud. somthing back that far shouldnt be your idle problems when i was talking about your exhaust manifold i mean the part that comes out the side of the motor on the drivers side. it has a heat sheild covering it. about a foot and a half i believe down is your o2 sensor. the crack, if you have one, should be above that or it could be your gasket. thier are also some other things that could cause it but you would net a diagnostics test for those....(sensors).....but from what your explaing mine does the same thing and mine is cracked. so i just ordered a header for it. get some more hp and fix it couldnt go wrong thier.
