after a day and a half of work (curse those damned auto flywheel bolts) the transformation was complete, and my s13 was out of under the knife. Its completely great! Its a totally different car. Just wanted to share this with everyone cause im so damn psyched about it. peace!

sweet im doing my soon im adding a fidanza flywheel and a exedy spec 1 clutch . i can't wait. thats the only prob. You ran into?

 

pretty much, the flywheel bolts and the auto bushing you have to take out to put the manual pilot bushing in. it took me longer to get evrything off than to put on all the manual stuff. I hgihly recommend you prep everything you can before you start the swap.

the day before i put the tranny together (release bearing, cluth fork and so forth, and the pedal assembly in my car with MC). when you get to actually working on the car it makes everything alot faster.

oh yeah, latex gloves are great. i should have used them from the start. and be carefull with the auto tranny, that thing weighs a crap load, i should have been more carefull, it kind slipped and gave me a cut on the forhead [ouch!]

how difficult was the clutch pedal mounting? ive read a bunch who say its a pain, and of course just as many who say its simple. ive already accounted for the skill level of the people who wrote these things... what i really want to know is if the task is challenge because its tedious or because you're fabricating your own parts.

 

the clutch pedal mounting was easy. just need to remove the big plastic thing that goes under the steering wheel to fit your drill in there [s13]. id recommend using a drill that hooks up to an outlet, power for your drill and power to make the holes is consistent [unlike the battery operated ones, which proved to be inefective]. it had to be one of the easiest things to do right next to wiring. by the way i used a 38mm [ 1 and 1/2 inch?] hole saw [cost me 8 bux] it was the perfect size. i also used a grinder to cut down my brake pedal.

there was not much of a challenge of it being tedious, even less a fabrication of parts because your using the clutch pedal from another car. but youll definately have to adjust the clutch pedal after everything is done. mine was letting the clutch engage right before fully releasing it [didnt like it at all].

ah so you brought a clutch pedal along for the swap. this one post on a forum i looked at (cant remember where any more) made me wary, talking about modding a brake pedal and fabbing custom mounts (basically assembling his own clutch pedal assembly. ive been looking for a 240 and now i dont have to look away when the one i like is an auto.

 

yeah, i took the clutch pedal assembly out of anotehr s13 at the junkyard, cost me 30 bux.

all you people with good knees... even tho it is a hydro clutch pushin it in and out during stop and go traffic kills me... i would do the mod except for that fact... when i build my girlfriends 240 she is going to have a standard... just in case i want to drive it from time to time...

 

I just had an auto to manual conversion done on my 240 last week. I love it : D except for one minor problem I had afterwards, it went great.
