^^^lol i think drifting is pretty cool. i just dont tell anybody i like it, i say autocross or something. if i say i like it theyll be all like "Do you drift your car? Is it fun? do you have sr20? im just kinda like lol.

but back on topic if you wanna drift and stuff just fix whats wrong with your car first then start practicing. just cuz you might own a 240 doesnt mean you have to drift. ive had my 240 for liek a year and dont drift even tho i like it. too risky for the roads, leave it for the track.

what exactly is your "budget"?? like everyone else said drifting is expensive, it is very abusive on the engine, tranny, brakes, and suspension components...

how old are you?

also if you dont have tools and your gona have a shop do your work, dont even bother drifting..

go for the mustang. 1st reason... it saves cars for us. 2nd reason... it saves cars for us. and when ur new at a forum, u probably dont want to start ish with people that have high post counts. they might actually know more than u. just a thought.

theres that one jzx90 markII in D1 street legal thats auto, and he does fine...pretty decent lines and everything...as for drifting with the mustang...yea sure why not. however if you were to go on...say...club 4ag and show or ask things about your car...nobody will really take you seriously, if you go on a mustang forum and talk about drifting your mustang, people will probably try to kill you. and rape your sister.

I don't down anyones attemp at anything, but you are getting urself into a costly hobby.

in my 3 going on 4 years of ownership this is my list of destuction:

-3 motor
-3 trannies
-2 differentials
-3 Radiators
-i dont know how many hit curbs
-1 K wall
-lots of syn motor/gear oils 50-60 dollars every 2000 miles ( motor ) and right after practice session
-LOTS OF GAS ( infinity sign)
-Entry Fees ( average of 150 just for practice)
-30 plus sets of tires ( used )
-Upset girl also lol.

and with all that still have not entered an "official" competition yet due to money and travel expenses

and it was also befor me joining the Air force. most of that stuff was done with college refunded checks. It sucks when you break something and have to wait weeks to fix it.

just an thought man, but don't let anyone stop you dude

Carry on.
