Arrow Black Trim Painting Question

Ho everyone, i am planning on paingintg the black trim around my windows on my 240 fastback, not the rubber sealer stuff, but the black plastic? trim. I didn't know if anyone have any experience with painting it, im just paingintg it black, not like hot neon purple or anything, its just a 11 year old car so its scratched and what not, I sanded it down just a bit then put some black duplicolor, 2 coats then a set of clearcoat, i just did like a square, does anyone know if this stuff will stay on good? through car washes, or any info on this would be hella cool, thanks!

If i were you i would take it to a local paint shop. thats just me. i dont think they will charge you more than 50 dollars to paint those two peices. hell they might not even charge that much if you prep them first. just wet sand them real good with 400 grit sandpaper.

the problem with spray paint is that you dont have enough pressure behind the paint to get it to stick and bond well. i believe you need a min. of 28 psi. for paint to stick to the rough sanded area. i think the paint will chip off the first time you take it to the car wash. i think my painter charged me like 20 bucks to paint those two peices and the windshield wiper blades black.

WTF windshield wiper blades? Are you serious?

BTW I've spray-painted a lot of exterior auto parts before with no chipping, etc. It's all a matter of doing the job right...
