Well you can always talk people down, i got my car for 2900 and the guy had it for 3500. Just try n find stuff wrong with it and you can always say that you dont know about the work that has been done to the car and if its reliable. Also ask him why hes selling it, and DONT SAY 'this is exactly what ive been looking for' because he has you then. I dont know what else to put in but good luck with it and dont think that this is the only 240 youll find, im sure youll stubble across a nice one soon enough. And if this is that nice one then go for it, but i wouldnt ever buy a car pre-modded just because wheres the fun in buying a car like a 240. People buy them to mod them and drive them. You just will be able to drive it. But like i said its totally up to you and if you have a slight hesitation about the car, odds are that you dont really want it. And you dont wanna get a car you dont want. Good luck and i hope you get what you want

Well I got my S13 For $1200 from an older guy who babyed it, I personally recomend this route, simply because this way you know it hasn't been DIYed and it is reliable. Where are you at? The price might be lower because I am in Cleveland (salted streets) so there is more rust on average up here than say georgia... Shop around. the best advice i can give is don't settle. Get what you want because thats what you will be happiest with.

i was so ready to buy a 92 S13 from a this guy who kept it stock and always had it dealer serviced. not only that he had a fat stack of paperwork. everything since the car was bought (aside from light bulbs and air fresheners) and he had the factory manuals. if only it wasnt an automatic, and if only it wasnt slipping. point is, look for stock, even if its barely in running order. at least that way you know at the very least you can buy OEM parts and get it running right. if that clutch wasnt installed correctly or the rear upper control arms werent calibrated right, you might end up spending 8K upfront and then who knows how much down the road repairing the so called upgrades.

Thanks for all the replies. I looked at the car and while it is in great shape I have decided against it. I think I will look for a stock s13 and work on it myself. I also thought that $8000 was a bit steep for this car. He also made a rookie mistake. He left the bill of sale from when he bought the car in the glove box. A year and a half ago and 20,000 miles ago he paid $8000 for it.

HAHAHA nice job, should we be calling you sherlock now? Good luck with the new car finding experience...but beware of frame rust, if its at a dealer ask to get it up on a lift, if its a private, when you go test drive it ask them the closest place you can get it up on a lift. DONT JUMP ON THE CAR IF IT SEEMS GOOD....i know youll hate this but if its not everything you want...WAIT...itll be worth it in the long run. Check for rust where the frame start going up(by the firewall) thats where the rust is on mine, and ive seen it there on others.

learning quick, thats what these cars are about IMO. and i second sirikool about mileage. cars with 200K+ miles on them still run great if theyve been well maintained.

Do a recorded check to make sure it hasn't been hit hard even if the seller says it hasn't (you would be surprised with how many people lie about the history of their cars) If it has been hit hard the value isn't there (a rebuilt is at least 30-35%less, I personally wouldn't by a rebuilt), If it has been banged up, make sure that it was repaired by a reputable shop not some shady back yarder.

Just my 2 cents
