alright, well let me make some generalizations and throw my own $.02 into all this.
Honda's = easier, cheaper/reliability (not in terms of going fast)
Nissan's= harder, faster, and a bit more $ (not in terms of going fast)
Personally, I think VTEC is CRAP. But that's just me.

That's only in F&F and riced out street racers. A proper nitrous set-up is the best bang for your buck and can be very reliable.

SOme of you dont know **** about honda yet you bash on them because you just follow the band wagon, i Used to own a 98 integra ls power by precision sc34 at 18psi and there is many 240sx with sr20 swapped around here that could keep up with it, does that mean that honda was better, No it just meant that i spend more money on my motor and make it faster, can a sr20det be that fast? of course it can. If you look into how much it cost to built a honda, you wouldnt say it cheap. I switch from my integra to a s13 not because i think nissan is better but i just got tired of highway pull and is now more interested in learning drifting.

SO yeah, like i said, the only thing that honda really has to boast is their VTEC (which yes everyone is going to their own version of) ... but honda sacrafices engine size for their volumetric efficiency... He may have 170hp at peak rpm.... but he only has maybe 120 TOPS ft.lbs. of torque at peak.
To me, its kinda like NOS. You can have 100 hp at the push of a button, but its all just a cheap thrill... Same thing with a VTEC... its all in the computer tuning of the valves... not actually in the engine...

I agree, honestly, i was rather surprised that my buddy beat me... Usually 9 out of 10 times he usually noses me out. But then again, we both noticed that we had no more than a 4 grand drop on out of the hole. (Yes it was on the street... impromptu and at a stoplight flame away if you wish) So honestly, that could have been a lot of my benefit. I will still play the displacement card simply bigger engine = bigger torque (well... for the most part) So chances are, at lower rpm... and at that point of the power curve, i might've had more horse/torque than him, but honestly, i really couldn't make a very accurate statement on that because neither of us have been dyno'd ... ANd as for the nos, i have to say that i disagree... Of coarse nos is reliable because its simply at the push of a button... ANd understand i'm not some F&F nut job that thinks that since i have a car with a muffler, i think i'm the **** or anything... But really... unless your engine is setup and fortified for the NOS then it has a chance of doing more harm to your engine than anything in process of giving you x number of hp. But then again, this forum isn't NOS or no NOS... so i digres...

And for the record, i'm not necessarially a honda basher even tho i sound like it. I fully understand that honda legitemately puts out awesome power and all that ... i think i moreso hate the fact that everyone that has a civic or CRX thinks they're the ****... because honda has so mass produced themselfs.. they've kinda gotten a bit of a bad reputation because of the buzz mufflers and the autozone wing. That, honestly, is moreso what i would bash. And honestly, i think that honestly, honda is kinda played out... i'm not really surprised anymore to see a tricked out civic or lude or crx in a mag anymore y'know? i'm just kinda bored of the honda scene... but like i said, i do appreciate the legit honda guys...

Btw for those that say because honda lack in torque on the low end, did you bother to see how they perform up top? They dont have high low end torque but it doesnt drop off like ****. A stock civic cx would weight is around 2060 or so, weight is a big fator.

I drive my S13 cause I simply love it. Not because honda sucks, or Mazda, or Ford, or Chevy...it's because I LOVE the look of the car, the potential, and the fact that there wasn't much 240 out there.

for starters. ive built both. why are you asking about nissans, in particular an sr swap when you stated your buddy has an rb that you love. they arent the same. especially in a 240 i have had both with the exception of mine being an rb25 as opposed to your buds rb20. if you like an rb powered 240 get one. if you like a honda keep it. its pretty simple, you dont need us to tell you something, deep down inside you already know. as for positives and negatives. i only see one drawback to my current 240 its old and ive replaced many parts to make it new, but im **** with my car. some of the cooler hondas that you still can work on at a fair price arent as old. therefore most parts are kept and not replaced. cheaper in the long run, i guess. i had a h22 accord liked it, didnt love it though. i like rear wheel drives. my .02 cents
