Car Not Starting HELP!

alright, so my car has had this problem for awhile, but i haven't had the time to fix it. And it seems like it is getting worse so i really want to figure out what it is.

What happens is when i start it i have to give it a little gas, or else it will just die, and i have to continue giving it some gas for a minute o so, or else it would just die. Lately, even when i give gas at the start up, it doesn't start. I just have to keep cranking it till i hear the engine come alive a bit, and then give it some gas to stay alive.

Also, if it is warmed up, sometimes it idles higher then normal, and then it will go back down. THen continue to jump up and down durng idle. ALso when i give it gas , it starts to die a bit and then the rpm's start to go up.

any ideas?

my first question is are you sure you're actually giving it gas? in other words have you checked the fuel pump to see that it is in fact working properly?

the easiest way to tell if it's working it to listen to it. it's located in the trunk so have someone turn the key to the acc position. you should be able to hear it for about 2-3 seconds and then stop. if you hear it then you can probably rule out the pump. although if you want to be sure though you can use an in line gauge attached to the fuel line before the fuel filter. iirc the reading should be 43psi at idle.
