Help, car is not starting

Crap, I went to start my car this morning and it won't. It cranks, but won't turn over. I just drove it yesterday afternoon and it was running just fine. Is it because its too cold (its like, 20 degrees out)? Could it be the starter?

I'm in the process of pulling out the plugs and checking them now. If it cranks, does that mean there's still a spark but its not igniting? Or does it mean there is not spark at all.

My guess would be either starter or distributor. If it is cranking but not turning over it means there is no spark. Try holding the key for a minute and giving some gas.

Alrite, here's the deal. I pulled my plugs and there was this black residue all on them. (these are Bosch Plat +4s). So I put my old plugs (NGK Plat) in, they really didnt need changing when i changed them 5 months ago. I checked my distributor. Everything was ok. I tried starting it again and gave it some gas and it started up. Something doens't seem right though, because the exhaust smells REALLY gassy.

Maybe there's something wrong with my fuel pump? Timing off?

By exhaust smelling gassy do you mean rich? Becasue if the car is cold and hasnt fully warmed up yet the cats are not fully functioning so it will smell rich for a little then go away. Or you may have an exhaust leak somwhere.

Also depending on where you live, your battery could be going soon. It may not have enough cold amps.

How is your idle? The black residue around your plugs jst means that your running rich overall. Maybe your MAF is on its way out

Yeah, it was running a little rich. It's fine now after it warmed up. I was worried because it usually doesn't smell that strong at start up, but I think the reason it was this time was because I cranked it a couple times before it started so there was more fuel than usual. Thanks a lot for the suggestions, I'll check into the MAF. My idle seems okay, but i'll pay more attention to it.
