Car won't rev past 5,200

So I was having a friendly spirited run with a friend of mine in his prelude last night and two random civics when I noticed my car being rather sluggish. I had been noticing that the engine's tone was noticeably different and louder, but after checking my oil I (hastily) concluded that it was due to the change in weather conditions (significantly cooler than previous weeks) since my oil level was/is ok. So today I decided to run a few "tests." I attempted to redline 3rd gear, but to no avail, it would not rev past 5,050rpms and felt like she was running out of gas (full tank). Tried in 4th with the same result (unpopulated highway testing ). So I tried free revving the motor, with the clutch out, car in neutral I floored the gas, she revved to 5,200rpm and would not go any further. Im dumbfounded. I have no CEL on, no alternate warning lights. Any ideas? Car does have a lot of miles on her, 157k.

have you checked ignition and it may also be your distributor out of time(im guessing that its ka) so check that and see if that helps it.

Mine has done that 3 or 4 times but it just went away when i let the car sit overnight. Give it a day and check it again.

It will be hard for a garage to troubleshoot it if there are no check-engine signals.

Could possibly be the mass airflow sensor.

sounds like your fuel pump is going out, try releasing the pressure off of the gas tank by unscrewing your gas cap, then replace gas cap and see if it still bogs.

Glad you fixed it. It doesn't do much good to rev a stock KA past 5000 though.
