Question Check Engine Light (help)

Alright, so I'm driving and my car throws a CEL. No loss of power, engine runs and sounds fine. But I'd like to know whats going on with my car. I have a 91 so that would be an OBD1 ecu and finding a code reader for obd1's is like finding a needle in a haystack. Does anybody know a way to check the code without a code reader and without taking it to a shop. Please let me know. THANK YOU.

you dont need a code reader.
expose your ecu and undo the bracket so you can see the back side of it (side facing the firewall) there's a little **** there, turn it all the way to one side, wait 2sec, then turn it all the way back. the LED (or CEL) will blink. refer to the FSM on how to read the blinking light and find the code.
when you're finished, turn the **** again all the way, wait 2sec and turn it back. that will clear the code.

Download an FSM (factory service manual), it will help you alot in the long run.

ok so I find the ecu, I have to disconnect the ecu box from the car to turn the thing clockwise and counterclockwise before I see any CEL or LED lights blinking?
