Checked out a 240sx today... some questions..
So I went and checked out the 240sx today.
It was pretty nice. It was a 90 SE hatchback. 78k miles, keyless entry, auto, perfect interior, cd player, cruise control, cd player, alloy wheels, power everything.. it was a real nice car. was a real fun car to drive, bucket seats were sweet and it was very low to the ground.
the only problems are: window motor problems, he explained clearly that the window motor will die soon. (you kinda have to push up the window) next, a few minor dings, a little scraping paint, and a little bit of rust (doesent really bother me, quarter sized splotch below the door on the bottom of the car, wasn't visible until he pointed it out)
the last thing would be .. ****, i forgot what it was called, i know i'm gonna screw up saying it, but IIRC it was called the right wheel ball joint.. something like that.. he said it would cost about $45 + labor.. he had all the repairs layed out on a nice spreadsheet type of thing, the repairs and stuff would cost like ~$200 or so.
Now heres the problem.. the guy is ASKING $3000.. which is definitely a little much. i think i'm gonna place an offer in for something like take the $3000 - repairs or whatever, which would probably make it end up at $2500-$2750, I think that would be fair. keep in mind, imports around here cost a lot due to them being very scarce. (Pittsburgh)
Any opinons on the situation? Any suggestions on what type of offers I should make towards him?
Also, how hard is it to install a power window motor?
BTW, this guy is no dummy, he has been in the car business for 20 years, and was a manager of the largest car dealership in PA (its right near me)
Thanks

wow, that's more than 100k miles less than my '93!! It sounds like a pretty nice car. I don't know what the prices are like over there, but it sounds like your plan would be okay. He might think he can get 3000 though, so maybe he won't accept. If you're fine with an automatic, then go for it!!
