Decided To Give The Old 240 A Make-Over

Alright, My interests have changed from paintball to my car. Now I will be pouring endless amounts into my car.

So.. I have a '93 240SX and was wondering, performance wise, what to do and a basic order to do it in. I want nothing on looks yet, I dont care how ****ty it looks for now as long as its fast. Looks will come later.

I dont know much about cars, but I can read so dont try to talk to me like you need to explain anything, just tell me and I will figure out what the hell you are talking about.

Oh.. Its also an Auto So I know that limits some stuff.

Ok, say I have 10k to put into this car to start. And I want nothing as far as looks yet. Besides an engine swap what would you do and what order would you do it in?

And about the engine, what engines fit, where to look at them.

Also, what are some good sites that I can look at parts for the 240sx. Maybe some places with good info too. Anything would help me. I basically know nothing, so any tips and or info would help a lot. I just know I want to have a sweet ride.

ok..that's a start
well the engines you have to choose from are
the SR20det
RB20det
and RB25det
there are tons of places to find a good JDM engine..
www.venus-auto.com
www.srawap.com
www.unstable-hybrids.com
as you can see the list can go on forever and everybody knows atleast 10 diffrent places.
um..i'd get my suspension in order pretty quick. if you don't plan on making tons of power it can wait. not for long though....
some cool part places are:
www.pdm-racing.com
www.wholehyper.com
www.autoimaging.com
www.phase2motortrend.com

there you are. a little info.. other guys can help ya if they feel like it

im assuming ur planning on converting to 5-speed when u swap in those engines rite? or u could just rebuild ur existing ka motor and boost that...if u want to keep automatic then u can just get a torque converter

10K!!! i wish i had that much to spend on my motor ne ways... heres what i would do with that money... if u wanted to use ur KA motor... slap on a 3" pipe all the way back (Apexi N1, Blitz NurSpec, Greddy TREVO etc.) then boost the fack out of it! NSPORT turbo kit w. the bottom end rebuild... www.nsport.com should be enough right there for the major power... try www.enjukuracing.com (our sponsor) www.jspec.com www.optionsauto.com <<<VERY GOOD PRICES those sites should be able to clean up the little things u can throw on like a new intake, gauges, etc. NSPORT also offers headwork too... but it is pretty pricey... for the head, u can just take it to a reputable shop and do a lil porting for liek 400 bucks too, or if u really want to go all out on the head... try www.paeco.com Now i dunno how much of a fan u are of the JDM scene, if so try www.takakaira.com for all the JDM goodies and rare stuff. hope that helps

azian21485 - Yes I would be going to a 5-speed. I hate the auto, but its just what is there now. Is that easy to do? Or would I be better off staying with the auto and just making it as good as it can be?

drifties151 - Thanks for all that, I will check out all those links. Do you suggest that I stay with the KA? Or swap?

I asked before...but I am going to do the auto/manual and sr swap at the same time...anyone got a write up for this which has BOTH the auto/manual swap and sr swap at the same time? I am gonna try to do this myself with a little help from friends so I need all the direction I can get since this is the first swap I have done. Thanks in advance.
