Disadvantage of getting a 240 w/high mileage

hey, i want to get a 240 sx and to get a s13 sr20det and the s15 front end conversion. So heres the deal. Most 93 240sx are high mileage. Over 100k most. I want the car, but its 100k. Thats a ahit load. I know i will replace the eninge, and suspension. But will the car run like new or close. Cuz i dontr want some old *** **** driving around. But i like the fact its RWD and it looks good. So will be it bad with such high mileage.

Alright I am kinda confused here. If you are doing an engine swap then the miles go with it. The only bad part about high mileage when doing an engine swap is the wear on the chassis. Just when buying the car make sure there is no rust.

if you are talking about frame and rust then its not mileage that matters but actual location and what type of weather the car endured..
mileage really doesnt matter anymore..
my mother bought a 99 crv new
and still owns it now
she has almost 100k
its called highway driving..

it really depends on the type of driving that was done, and the owner. rust is a big issue, especially the frame rails. my 240 is showing signs of extreme salt conditions. but it has just under 74,000 miles. so ti goes either way. sook for signs on the frame rails, pull the side sills up and peel the carpet to look in that area, check for oil residue on the engine and X-member(they coulda washed the engine)if it sat then test drive to see if the calipers are in good shape. basically the same **** you look for when you buy anyused car.

it suks, my car has 73,900 miles and has 100,000 worth of wear on it

dont be too sadd..
this car is on its second ka24de.
its a 92
odometer says 167000
but the odometer hasnt worked in years
so in essence the car may very well as have over 200k miles
and my rust is sooo horrendous that i could swear this car is 50 years out and sat around in salt water all its life

If you're planning on changing everything anyway, then mileage shouldn't be much of a concern.

Pay special attention to the things you won't be replacing - like the body itself. Rear wheelwell / rocker area rot will probably rule out the car. Also take a close look for rust bubbles on the strut towers. The front fenders are not a concern if you're going with an S15 front.

If you're planning on spending a good amount of $$$$$ on a project, then it may make sense to have a body shop take measurements from the chassis alignment holes to make sure it's within spec.

Other than that, you may end up with some squeaks/noises, but if you have the money for an S15 front, you should have the resources to stiffen up the chassis a bit.
