High-mileage Prep for a Greddy Turbo Kit?

I'm seriously contemplating going to my bank and withdrawing the funds needed to turbo my 95 S14, but here's my situation:

1) I live in California
2) I daily drive my car
3) I have a high mileage engine

With that in mind, the logical choice for me would be the Greddy turbo kit, since I've read that it's CARB legal and designed for stock/mild KA24DE's. That CARB part is super important for me since I drive my car on the streets everyday, to and from work and school and my girlfriends house =)

As for mileage, it's pushing the 160k mark. She still runs rgood and pulls strong, but I know that I'm going to have to replace/rebuild the engine to get it ready for the turbo kit. Aside from the standard rebuild procedures (compression check, gaskets, etc.) a lot of people I talked to recommended Ross pistons for a KA-T and ARP headstuds. With that Greddy kit, am I missing anything else? I'm talking internals during the rebuild. I don't plan on going high boost or anywhere past 250hp - what I'm trying to achieve is a reliable, driveable KA-T that's also (???) CARB legal. Will internal strengthening affect this?

Note: I posted this on 3 different message boards to get as much feedback as possible; if you see this same post on another board, now you know why

definately a full rebuild kit, w/ oil pump and all. You'd want a bigger HG, even if you're only gonna run 6-8psi. You could also swap in some 91 cams.
You might not need to, but a higher flow fuel pump will help, a 300zx fuel filter, and then the kit. for that little psi you shouldn't need ross forged pistons.

That is what i've gathered

if ur gonna go Greddy, check out www.hopupracing.com , its about 2695 or sumthin like that...

as for the KA-T, MAKE SURE you do ALL THE TESTS, as they pinpoint any weaknesses or problems...

www.cipmotorsports.com had the kit in stock last i talked to them.
$2872.00 SHIPPED

If CARB legality is a worry, you can't legally run an IC, IIRC. You're also limited to whatever boost the kit is set to run (probably like 4psi).

AFAIK: there are no CARB legal intercoolers.

Run a compression test and go from there. Might not need a rebuild or anything. Greddy kit won't LEGALLY allow you to run enough boost to do too much damage to your engine.

I had my stock '95 engine running 7psi at like 150k miles.

How log did it last? I plan on running stock internals with about 5-7 lbs of boost while I build a motor to swap into the car.

Don't forget some new pistons. The weakest link with the KA is not necessarily the rods, but the ring lands of the pistons. I would worry about them more then the rods. Arias makes some good pistons at a decent price, and you always have JE pistons to look into as well. From what I know, the rods are pretty strong in of themselves. So long as you keep the boost at a reasonable level, the rods will do fine. If you plan on boosting more(which will happen, trust me... ) you may want to reconsider and take care of the rods as well.
